Bloody Marsh

This activity documents what the area known as Bloody Marsh now looks like. In 1742 this land was the site of a famous battle between the British and Spain who were fighting over the land. (Note: Please see the companion activity within the Goodies (Social Studies) section entitled "The Battle Of Bloody Marsh" for an account of the actual battle.)

The Bloody Marsh activity was built in one of the templates from the Learning Magic, Inc. "The Writing Bin" CD and provides students first with an opportunity to read and watch movies about the land as it exists today. Then they have the opportunity with built-in vocabulary support to write about the marsh and its inhabitants today (i.e. nearly 260 years after the battle).
